Floor tiles
• Cooked;
• ceramic;
• stone and marble.
The first is a porous red support material. It does not have a smooth surface and therefore gives a rustic effect to the room, ideal if you have wooden furniture. It’s hard, even if it’s not very thick, and it lasts a long time.
Ceramic tiles are very light and easy to lay, even if you choose to apply them on the floor already present in the house. They last a long time and keep heat well. There are mainly three varieties of ceramic: single-fired, glazed and single-fired, double-fired which, as the name suggests, is subjected to double firing, and porcelain stoneware, which is subjected to high temperatures. The tiles of the latter type are available in different colors and decorations that recall original materials, such as wood.
Finally, stone or marble surfaces are the most beautiful but the most expensive, with excellent strength and durability.
The format of the floor tiles.
Once you have chosen the material, you just have to select the appropriate format. Large tiles are often recommended for floors because they have faster laying times and, moreover, with fewer joints, they are easy to clean. However, they need to be cut to fit the size of the rooms and thus the time increases.
Small tiles, on the other hand, are recommended for bathroom floors or to create decorations in the corners of rooms, for example. In these cases it can be useful to choose the tiles. If the surface has a perimeter with a particular shape, it is better to choose smaller tiles because this way you will not have to make cuts and the work will be done quickly.
Commercial spaces and coatings
In commercial and public spaces, aesthetics and design combine with the high technical performance of porcelain stoneware. The tiles for floors and walls become elements of furniture and give style and personality to the rooms.
